I love your advise here everyone that gets a english or american labrador needs to read this. You are spot on with your advice I have trained my english labradors this method to the exact T. I always see or hear other people treating the dog as if its their fault for destroying their home while they were out. These people however did not know the breed they got or just had no idea on how to raise a pet, which in my opinion I would never give someone a dog of mine if I thought they would abuse them or had no idea in what they were doing no matter what they paid me for it. I can see you know the English Labrador very well just by this one article. I have a 8 year old English from Blossom Hill Retrievers whose name is Hunter. This has been the best dog of my entire lifetime and the smartest I’ve seen. He was my hunting partner for almost 7 yrs so we were together everyday and still are now. I never once would agree on using shock devices as I see many hunting dog trainers use, it makes me want to piut that shock collar on their neck and see what it feeels like, its not a useful training tool just a device to torure an animal. I never have trained my animals with no more than harsh NO! or occasionally rearing not hard or puppies I pick them p around the top of neck skin you must let them know your the Alpha male in charge of them once they learn this then its all downhill. I have the most intelligent dog I can now show off and be proud of because he wants to do anything that makes me happy or pleases me. He loves to get the newspaper, put up my boots, even gets a beer fromthe cooler now. So many people ask me how I have taught him so much and really I don’t say anything but patience and routine, and I also tell them I never abuse the dog and never have. I walk him leashless by the heel sound, and hold sound so make hime stay. I even spent time with him to walk me blindfolded by teaching him to stop and watch for cars at intersections. He has been and always will be my best friend I plan to breed him someday but it will have to be with the right female and the right DNA past pedigrees considering his is champion lines. His father is from Wiscoy labradors Reich whom is a champion and his mother also a champion from Blossom Hill Labradors whom I got my dog “HUNTER”. He has certified HIP prelim GOOD, Elbows OFA prelim Normal, and eyes clear, Optigen A1- Full Detentition. Know one in my area breeds English labradors unfortunately. I was thinking of getiing into it possibly I know my dog cost me 2000 and I had to reserve him ahead of time, but I would be interested in purchasing a female from you sometime very soon. So maybe we can talk sometime about that when you have a female ready or you might know someone intersted in breeding a intelligent femal with a highly intelligent male with all creditials. I can seee you guys have the passion for the breed as I do, my problem would be getting rid of my dogs to the right people. Which actually I think everyone that knows mt dog would want a pup, but I would have to know they were going to give them the home like their own son or daughter because they are exactly that a family member not just a dog as some people think.
